A new, local foster group held their second coffee morning recently all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Parallel Parents is an independent child-centred fostering agency that wishes to promote fostering in Goole and the surrounding areas. The coffee morning, which was held on Friday, October 1 in St John’s Parish Church, was the group’s second meeting but they wish to plan more in the future. Cakes, buns and homemade treats were all available to purchase, there was also a play area for parents who brought their kids along. The foster group plan to meet regularly at the Spire Centre once the renovations are complete at St John’s.
Naomi Morris, a Goole-based foster carer and support worker, organised the charitable event. She said: “Fostering is something in great need in Goole. “We get 150 referrals across the country per day. As we’re part of the Yorkshire team that covers the East Riding and the rest of Yorkshire, we’re looking for full-time, long-term, short-term and respite care for children aged zero to 17-years-old. “Homes are required for both sibling groups or individual children.
